Kulik Bird Sanctuary (Raiganj Wildlife Sanctuary) is claimed as Asia's second largest bird sanctuary. Spanning over an area of 130 hectares this sanctuary is home to 164 species of birds including Asian Koel, Red Whiskered Bulbul, Munia, White Breasted Water Hen, Magpie Robin, Parakeet etc. Every year thousands of migratory birds visit this sanctuary during winter. There is a watchtower for bird watching. Apart from birds there are around 64 species of butterflies and various species of reptiles at this sanctuary. The best time to visit Kulik is from September to January.
How to Reach from Kolkata
You can reach Raiganj station from Kolkata Terminal by Radhikapur Express. Buses are also plying from Esplanade to Raiganj. Kulik is 3 km from Raiganj. Rickshaws are available from Raiganj to reach Kulik.
