Purbasthali

Purbasthali is a small town in Burdwan district of West Bengal. It is located at a distance of 120 km from Kolkata and 145 km from Howrah. The place is also known as Chupir Chor and is a paradise for bird watchers. The prime attraction of Purbasthali is the beautiful oxbow lake created by the River Ganga. There is boating facility in the lake. Various species of birds such as Lesser Whistling-duck, Red-crested Pochard, Kingfisher, Osprey, Little Cormorant, Great Egret and Spoon Bill are sighted in this lake. The place also attracts a number of migratory birds during the winter months.

How to Reach from Kolkata

You can reach Purbasthali from Howrah and Sealdah by Katwa-bound local train. Purbasthali Lake is 3 km from Purbasthali station. Van rickshaws are plying from the station to the lake. If you want to drive to Purbasthali, then take NH34 and reach Nabadwip via Krishnanagar. Purbasthali is 8 km from Nabadwip and is easily accessible via Parulia More.
